How do you do it all!? No really. I need some tips here. 🙋🏽♀️
Maternity leave is coming to and end, and I’ve had a taste of what it will be like when I go back to work. I’ve gone to the office a few days during my leave- each day leaving fulfilled from seeing patients, doing injections, saving vision, but also downright exhausted.
Seeing @dr.gut_motility post- “Just because you carry it so well, doesn’t mean it’s not heavy” got me thinking…
While on the outside/IG I’m a pretty smiley optimistic person- but, you don’t see it all. You didn’t see me tear up before leaving for just half day of work yesterday. Worried about leaving my newborn. Or how exhausting it’s been for my husband being on call for two weeks straight.
So how do we do it? A two physician family, with a toddler, a newborn, a doggie and plants (thankfully these last two are mostly self sufficient with some TLC 😂).
How do you make sure you’re giving your kids enough attention and love they deserve?
How do you find time to spend as a couple?
Give everything you have to your patients as a physician and surgeon?
And, also squeeze in sometime for your self/sanity!?
Also, seriously, how do you pump, sterile, store milk while juggling two kids after you get home from work just to do it all again the next day!?
We have a nanny and family close by and are blessed with supportive work family and friends. Even with all of this, it’s tough! Just keeping it real 🤷🏽♀️
I don’t have the answers. But, what I know is this:
➡️Taking time for yourself first thing in the morning with exercise, reading, or meditation goes a long way. It’s hard to help others if you don’t help yourself first.
➡️Keep it light. Hubby is much better at this than me, but cracking a joke and making each other laugh amidst the chaos is a way of checking in.
➡️Live in the moment- easier said than done. Time with my two little women is flying by, although sleepless night sometimes feel long. They won’t be little forever.
Happy weekend everyone! And if you’re tired- I feel ya 🙌🏼 PS: check out @prnfitness posts with her grandfather’s wisdoms- they’ve been so enlightening!
